Two Brookdale leaders named Women of Distinction by McKnight's Senior Living.

Twenty-two women will be inducted into the McKnight’s Women of Distinction Hall of Honor as part of the second annual class.The Hall of Honor recognizes executive-level women who have made significant contributions to the senior living and skilled nursing fields. Among this year's honorees is Lucinda ("Cindy') Baier, chief executive officer and president of Brookdale Senior Living.

Five couples at Brookdale West Bay in Warwick celebrated a combined 242 years of marriage -- along with more than 30 grandchildren and at least a half dozen great-grandchildren -- this Valentine's Day.

Together for 61 years, Marge and Terry Huntsman met in their early 20s on a blind date in 1958 and as Marge says, "The rest is history." The couple is from Idaho Falls, but now lives in the Brookdale Assisted Living Center in Chubbuck.

Leaders at Brookdale Nursing Home hosted their second COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the facility Tuesday, vaccinating around 200 staff and residents.

Some good old-fashioned snail mail has residents at Brookdale Tallgrass grinning from ear to ear, and whipping out their pen and paper. These letters coming in from strangers, lifting spirits and igniting the "Pen Pal Program" at Brookdale Tallgrass Assisted Living.

Julie Cox is a 78-year-old Brookdale Novi resident who made a viral rap about COVID-19 and she recently received a dose of the vaccine. Cox, a former music teacher, decided she wanted to remind people to wash their hands and practice social distancing the best way she knows how -- through song.

Brookdale Salina Fairdale hosted a vaccine party for its residents Thursday, complete with games, photos and, of course, the first of two rounds of COVID-19 vaccines.

More than 60 residents of Brookdale Napa on Villa Lane, together with some 50 employees, awaited their turns for the first of two injections of the COVID-19 vaccine produced by Pfizer and introduced in December. They thus became some of the first among more than 137,000 Napa County residents to receive protection against the virus.

Brookdale San Marcos North, a senior-living facility, recently had residents, associates and essential caregivers receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Pharmacists from CVS administered the vaccine.
