At 90 years old, an East Texan is still exploring his passion for creating things with wood. Fred Meissner has been making wooden crosses for more than 30 years.

Hellen Jeanette Jackson, 93, received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Coker University on December 8, 2023, at Winter Commencement. After graduating high school Jackson Received a Scholarship from an anonymous friend to attend college. Hellen started at Coker in 1947 and graduated in 1951, majoring in History and Spanish.

Richard lives at Brookdale Urbana in Illinois and has a unique hobby that he enjoys sharing with other residents. He enjoys building models of cars, planes, helicopters, and rockets. He has been putting together models since the second grade and has built well over 1,000 models.

Rick Mercer and Katie Schreter met before moving into a Brookdale Assisted Living community and their respective hobbies are part of what draws them together. The couple says they’ve given each other gifts relating to their hobbies over the years and they like that they are each able to find happiness doing something they love.
