Amid the snowy and icy conditions in Williamsburg Friday afternoon, residents at Brookdale Chambrel Williamsburg Senior Living had cause to celebrate, as residents received doses of vaccine to protect themselves against COVID-19.

One of the oldest people in the state of Tennessee, Brookdale Goodlettsville resident, Nilmah "Cookie" Cook, has received her second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine inside her assisted living home.

Brookdale Westlake Village became one of the first skilled nursing facilities in Ohio to administer the COVID-19 vaccine Friday morning. Frank Hurley, 92, was the first to receive the vaccine, and he was thrilled about it. Click to see the story from CBS 19 in Cleveland. 

With the first doses in the U.S. administered Monday, the senior living industry is close to distributing the COVID-19 vaccine among residents and staff. Charlie Burrell, a resident at Brookdale Lowry, is known as the “Jackie Robinson of music.” He became the first African American to play in a major symphony when he took a job in Denver.  Burrell turned 100 years old and was celebrated with a car parade. Brookdale Canyon Lakes, a senior living facility in Kennewick, hosted a "Gratitude is Ageless" car parade Saturday. The event joined residents, first responders, and city leaders together to be grateful for the contributions each have made in our community.

The elderly community had front row seats to a big celebration on Sunday. Those living in the Brookdale Dr. Phillips Senior Living in Orlando get their very own socially-distanced parade.

Brookdale Kerrville resident Inky Blumenthal was recently granted a "wish of a lifetime," taking a hot air balloon ride at sunrise, then eating an exotic lunch of lobster, alligator, frog legs and shrimp at the senior living community. Blumenthal, who turns 99 on Sept. 7, is publishing a memoir about her escape from Germany during the Holocaust. She's lived in four countries and learned five languages.

Catherine Bryan Rhodes celebrated her 100th birthday on Friday at Brookdale Senior Living in Hattiesburg. She celebrated the occasion with family, friends and loved ones who held a special birthday parade for her, waving and blowing kisses as they drove past wishing her a happy birthday.

Miriam Kann turned 103 years old Wednesday and the community wanted to celebrate the local centenarian.

Associates at Brookdale Lafayette, along with family members and community residents, treated residents on Tuesday to a surprise Christmas in July parade. Employees dressed in holiday attire and the event featured special appearances by the Grinch and even Santa Claus himself.
