Please review the latest updates noted below in response to the winter storm and its impact on our New York communities.
According to the National Weather Service, Winter Storm Elliott is significantly impacting the northeast. We have communities located within a lake effect snow band that has been compounded by a significant snow and wind event. This weather pattern is expected to remain until about 6:00 pm Saturday evening.
Road conditions are poor and the local municipalities have stopped running snow plows on the roads for now, which impacts our parking lots. In addition, communities are likely to experience intermittent power outages.
The safety and well-being of our residents is our highest priority. Our teams, along with support from our district and corporate levels, are monitoring the situation at all impacted communities in the area and have detailed emergency preparedness plans in place to try and address all aspects of an emergency situation. Our communities are equipped with water, food and supplies to care for residents.
We have dedicated and caring associates staffed at the community to care for residents throughout this situation. We want to thank them for their support during this eventful holiday weekend.
We are taking appropriate actions to help keep the residents and associates safe throughout the storm and will be following any additional guidance and direction of authorities (if provided).
