Imagine having such a deep connection with someone that you are thinking and saying the same things, at the same time.
For Dwayne, that has been the case his entire life with his twin brother, Dwight.
The two were recently reflecting on some of their favorite childhood memories as twins while enjoying time together at Brookdale Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.
One of those memories stretched all the way back to the classroom. “When we were younger we used to try and pull ‘switcheroos’ with our teachers, but we would always end up in the principal’s office,” the duo said. “It doesn’t work if you don’t switch the books.”
Later in life, another one of their favorite stories to reflect on came from their time at Marine Corps boot camp.
“Picture this - An angry bear man with big teeth as Drill Sergeant staring down at (us) two tiny twin baby Beavers, we were whimpering and scared,” Dwayne said. “We got separated after a while because it was too hard to keep us apart. They would tell Dwight to do something but then see me and yell at me for not doing it when…it wasn’t me! They would pull us in to what felt like the good old times of the principal’s office and say ‘oh, there are two of you.’”
Both Dwayne and Dwight agreed that “nothing could be better” than having a twin and love the connection and bond they have shared their entire lives.
Dwayne added, “Dwight and I have always been close, we have this connection, and we say the same things at the same time. As kids, it would blow our minds, and it still does now!”
National Twin Day is observed on December 18th.
