Brookdale Colonial Park in Sarasota, Florida, is home to 20 men and women who served in the Armed Forces. Each month, the community hosts a monthly veteran’s support group. During these monthly meetings, veterans are honored and have an opportunity to hear from guest speakers. These speakers are often veterans themselves, or involved in organizations who help veterans in our area.
At a recent group, the community presented several resident veterans and visiting veterans with special thank you pins. This was part of a partnership with a local Hospice.
Ten Army Veterans, six Air Force Veterans, five Navy Veterans, and one Coast Guard Veteran received pins during the ceremony.
The afternoon was filled with patriotic music, a pledge of allegiance, and a singing of our National Anthem. The music during the ceremony was provided by George Puleo Jr. – whose father George Puleo Sr. was also honored for his service in the U.S. Army.
Other Brookdale Colonial Park residents were also able to take part in the ceremony, as well as an ice cream social provided at the end.
Brookdale Colonial Park is proud of our residents who served in the armed forces. We thank them for their service, and appreciate all the sacrifices they have made to ensure our Freedom.
