Brookdale CEO Cindy Baier was one of several Nashville business leaders to serve this week as a “storyteller” for the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce’s “Intro Nashville” program. The monthly program illustrates how Nashville was built on innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship and explores the collaboration between private and public sectors in the region.
Baier spoke virtually with moderator Marty Dickens about Brookdale’s growing role in the larger healthcare continuum to help the company’s residents and patients with access to increased services and care opportunities. She shared that one of the benefits of working in senior living is the opportunity to work every day with people about whom you genuinely care and who, in turn, care about you.
Baier discussed changes Brookdale made to help keep residents, patients, and associates as safe as possible in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She said the company was able to facilitate the vaccination of 93% of their residents in less than four months, and encouraged everyone to follow the lead of residents and get their own vaccinations if they can because it can be such an effective way to combat the virus.
There is a real sense of hope and optimism about the recovery at Brookdale, according to Baier, and the company is seeing the first green shoots of growth. She said the company earlier this month reported three consecutive months of sequential occupancy growth and, for Brookdale, the recovery has begun.
