Brookdale Sandy Springs honored its 13 veterans with patriotic tunes, certificates, and medallion. Peter Leaming, a Korean War veteran, said the recognition meant a lot to him. "We kept the country free and I really am proud of the fact that I served. It’s nice to know the people here are appreciative of what we tried to do."

Now, Richard lives in Brookdale New Braunfels. His motto? "Make sure that everyone you know is treated fair."
